SCARBOROUGH is on the East Coast of North Yorkshire England, 40 miles from York and 63 miles from Leeds. The A64 is the main road to Scarborough, the train takes 50 minutes from York. There are regular buses from Leeds and York. Nearby are Filey, Bridlington, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay all worth a visit. The resort is in two Bays , North and South Bay,divided by Castle Hill. Both bays have good sandy beaches. Scarborough has plenty of Guest Houses for Bed and Breakfast accomodation----Scarborough claims to be the original seaside resort great beaches, views, castle, miniature railway, open air theatre, parks, ice cream , fish and chips, museum, waterpark, amusement arcades, spa theatre, sea life sanctuary etc. A fun and lovely place to be.----Scarbrough was the first place i took has a kid with my mother after the war.-----scarboro aug 2203_0056

------------------The castle is a ruin of a medieval fortress on a rocky promontory overlooking the North Sea.--- It was damaged in December 1914 World War One by a raid by Imperial German Navy on Scarbrough.----------------------------------The Stephen Joseph Theatre is well established in Scarborough,known for Alan Ayckbourn plays.------------An Open Top Bus runs from the Spa Theatre on the Southside to the Corner on the Northside, and vice versa.--------Scarbrough is ideal to explore the North York Moors by Bus or Car.---Goathland on the North York Moors is setting for TV serial "Heartbeat" also a station on the famous North York Moors steam railway.
